Circus Cowboy. The Circus Cowboy was created by Peter Lang and appeared in a number of stories in Triumph in 1931, beginning with “The Whip Wizard of Bar 40!” (Triumph, Feb. 14, 1931).
The Circus Cowboy is Ted Turner, a British circus performer who wanders around the Texas frontier. Turner carries no guns, for he has a twenty-feet-long stock whip with which he is an expert and can perform many tricks. Turner is also accompanied by Marvello, “the horse that can do almost anything save talk.” Together they encounter and defeat the usual sorts of Texas threats.
