Chace, Inspector. Inspector Chace was created by “Vernon Loder,” the pseudonym of John George Vahey (Inspector Brews, Donald Cairn, Penny and Vincent Mercer) and appeared in Murder From Three Angles (1934) and Death at the Horse Show (1935).

Chace is a Chief Inspector of the Scotland Yard C.I.D. He has “the figure and face of a young Italian tenor,” with a “soothing, gentle, and as some hysterical people said, hypnotic” voice, and is called “Signor” by his coworkers. He is amiable and intelligent enough for his position.
