Cascarilla (I). Cascarilla (I) was created by the Russian author Yakov Protazanov (Maryutka, Satan) and appeared in the film Protsess o Tryokh Millionakh (1926).
Cascarilla is a Lupin who steals three million rubles from a banker and seduces his wife, only to have the money stolen from him by Tapioca, a common thief. The police catch Tapioca and assume he took the money; Tapioca is put on trial, becoming a folk hero. Cascarilla steals the three million back, and at Tapioca's trial makes a dramatic entrance, tossing the rubles to the cheering crowds of peasants.
