Carson, Lightnin’ Bill. Lightnin’ Bill Carson was created by George Arthur Durlam and Joseph O’Donnell (Rex Bennett, Billy Carson, Tim Caverly, Masked Phantom) and appeared in nine movies from 1936 to 1939, beginning with Lightnin’ Bill Carson. Lightnin’ Bill Carson is a U.S. Marshal who has a knack for disguise and uses it to track down and capture a variety of bad guys, from the fearsome Pecos Kid to jewel thieves to ordinary gang leaders. In one film he is framed for murder and sent away for six years, and when he gets out he poses as a Mexican criminal in order to capture the man who framed him. Carson is sidekicked by Magpie.
