Carroll, David. David Carroll was created by Octavus Roy Cohen (Chew Evans, Max Gold, Jim Hanvey, Eric Peters, Florian Slappey) and appeared in four novels from 1919 to 1922, beginning with Crimson Alibi.
David Carroll is a Great Detective. Carroll is alternatively “boyish” and “icy-cold,” and is “known the country over as the greatest of private detectives; a man whose very knowledge of human nature and its motivating forces was an asset which had never failed.” Carroll is a short, energetic, brilliant investigator who is enormously respected by the police and who generally treats both witnesses and suspects in a kind and friendly manner.
