Carringer, Crash. Crash Carringer was created by Arch Whitehouse (Todd Bancroft, Buzz Benson, Casket Crew, Coffin Crew, Griffon, Tug Hardwick, Coffin Kirk) and appeared in eleven stories in Flying Aces from 1938 to 1941, beginning with “Wings over the Yangtze” (Flying Aces, Apr. 1938).

Meredith L. “Crash” Carringer III is a salesman for the Hale Aircraft Corporation. His job is to fly the Hale Hellion around the world and persuade individuals and politicians to buy it. This leads Carringer into adventure in China, Afghanistan, and Iraq, where he fights against Chinese warlords, mad Afghani mullahs, and Japanese invaders.
