Cardby, Mick. Mick Cardby was created by “David Hume,” the pseudonym of John Victor Turner (Ebenezer Buckle, Tony Carter, Amos Petrie, Inspector Sanderson), and appeared in twenty-seven novels from 1932 to 1946, beginning with Bullets Bite Deep.

Mick Cardby is the younger partner of Cardby & Son, a private detective agency located in Covent Garden. Cardby’s father spent twenty years working for Scotland Yard and eventually became a Chief Inspector before retiring. The pair, both hard-boiled, fight a variety of London master criminals.
