Captain Starlight. Frank Pearson (1837-1899) was an English-born Australian bushranger and con man. In 1927 he appeared in eight stories in The Boys’ Friend, beginning with “The Punishment of Catchall” (The Boys’ Friend, Sept. 3, 1927).

The fictional Captain Starlight is a Gentleman Bandit and is more virtuous and sentimental than the historical and brutal Pearson was, in addition to having more colorful adventures.
