Cadman, Inspector. Inspector Cadman was created by “Charles Rushton,” the pseudonym of Charles Rushton Shortt (James O’Hannay), and appeared in five novels from 1939 to 1952, beginning with Murder out of Time.
Detective-Inspector Cadman works for Scotland Yard, assisted by Sergeant Murphy. The crimes they solve are ordinary, although occasionally they confront more interesting enemies, like the Yellow Peril Doctor Deo, or a case in which Cadman is sent to India. He is middle-aged, with a small grey beard and a gloomy attitude.
