B, Miss. Miss B was created by the Burmese author Hyun Chin-Gon and appeared in the story “Dormitory Supervisor ‘B’ and Love Letters” (Daybreak, 1923?).

Miss B is a teacher and dormitory supervisor at the C Girl’s High School in Burma. “She was well known as an obstinate spinster and a steadfast Christian,” and whenever any of the girls get a love letter, which is often, Miss B grills them relentlessly about who their suitors are and then lectures them on the bad intentions of men. But late one night the girls hear a conversation coming from Miss B’s room: one half of her personality, speaking in a male voice, is romancing her, while the other half of Miss B’s personality, in her normal voice, is alternately rejecting the male half and bewailing an earlier romantic loss.
