Brunel, André. André Brunel was created by Pierre Boileau and appeared in nineteen novels, comic books, and novellas between 1932 and 1956, beginning with “Deux Hommes sur une Piste” (Lecture pour Tous, 1932).

André Brunel is a French private detective active in and around Paris. He is 35, graying, with a pale, hard face, unusual energy, and superlative willpower. He lives in a mansion with a valet named Prosper, and specializes in solving impossible crimes and applying his logic to break supposedly supernatural murder cases.
