Brent, Allan. Allan Brent was created by Austin Parker and appeared in five stories in The Saturday Evening Post in 1924, beginning with “Forced Landing” (The Saturday Evening Post, Mar. 1, 1924).
Allan Brent is an upper-class Englishman whose best friend is Bill “Seadog” Towar. Both were wounded during World War One while flying for the R.A.F. After the war they wandered the world, hunting, flying, carousing, and spending their allowances until they are summoned back to the world by death of Brent’s father. Once Brent returns home he discovers that his sister Janeth [sic] is a wild child (she smokes—horrors!) and that the Brent family is broke. But Brent reverses the swindle and acquires an inflammable barn-storming plane, which allows him to form the Brent Aviation Company, and with the help of Seadog he remakes the family fortune.
