Bredon, Miles. Miles Bredon was created by Ronald A. Knox and appeared in five novels from 1927 to 1937, beginning with The Three Taps.

Miles Bredon is an insurance investigator in England who solves crimes committed against or by policy holders with the Indescribable Company. Bredon is “a big, good-humoured, slightly lethargic creature.” He doesn’t lack a work ethic, exactly, but he is continually diverted by his hobbies, and is often distracted by something interesting while in the middle of hobbying. Bredon works in rural England and is assisted by his wife Angela.
