Brannigan, One Eye. One Eye Brannigan was created by Stewart Robertson and appeared in seven stories in The Popular Magazine from 1928 to 1931, beginning with "'Checkmate' Toe" (Popular Magazine, Jan. 28, 1928).
One Eye Brannigan is a Con Man. Charles “One Eye” Brannigan is a tall, thin, aristocratically dressed man with graying hair, "sensitive hands," ideal manners, and a monocle (hence his nickname). With this appearance and his skills, he could have been a diplomat or a con man. Brannigan chooses the latter profession. However, he is not very good at being a swindler, and inevitably chooses the wrong person to either swindle or trust, and ends up minus his loot and more money besides.
