Brand, Victor. Victor Brand was created by A. Donnelly Aitken (Jacko the Detective) and appeared in a number of stories in Favourite Comic and Merry and Bright from 1911 to 1917.

Victor Brand is a Superhuman Great Detective. He is the "famous sleuth of London." When not solving cases he lounges around his flat wearing a fur-lined dressing gown and smoking a long cigar. Apart from being a celebrated detective, he is most notable for his menagerie of pets, which includes a canary, a cockatoo, a brown owl, a black cat, and Jacko the Detective. Brand is capable of communicating with all of them, and he makes use of them in the course of his investigations, having them break into houses and capture criminals and the like. He also uses Jacko as his chauffeur. Victor eventually marries and seems to retire.
