Blake, Robert. Robert Blake was created by the Indian author Dinendra Kumar Ray and appeared in 217 short stories and least eight novels and short story collections from 1901 to the 1930s, beginning “Bidhir Bidhan” (Rahoshyo Lahori, 1901).
Robert Blake is a Great Detective modeled on Sherlock Holmes. Blake is English and is active in London and its suburbs. A number of his stories are closely modeled on or are lifts from other novels, including H. Rider Haggard’s Ayesha and She. Other stories that Blake appears in have titles like “The Desert Beauty,” “The Chinese Dragon,” and “The Dubious Priest.”
