Black Ace. The Black Ace was created by “Philip F. Deere,” the Street & Smith pseudonym used in this case by William Bruner (Windy Bellows, Ham Moody, Vincente the Yaqui), and appeared in six stories in Wild West Weekly in 1931, beginning with “The Black Ace Rides” (Wild West Weekly, Feb. 7, 1931).
The Black Ace is a Costumed Avenger. He is a cowboy, active on the Western frontier, from Texas to Utah, who put on a mask to right a wrong and keeps it on until that wrong is righted. He rights other wrongs in the meantime, and fights other masked foes, like the Galloping Ghost.
