Bjones, Carlock. Carlock Bjones was created by Augustus Wittfeld and appeared in at least three stories in The Railroad Man’s Magazine in 1910 and 1911, beginning with “The Gold Coupler” (The Railroad Man’s Magazine, July 1910).
Carlock Bjones is a Great Detective modeled on Sherlock Holmes. Carlock Bjones, an American of the Edwardian era who talks like someone of the 1920s, is the “star detective of the Pole-to-Pole railway,” and solves railway-oriented crimes using Holmesian feats of deduction. He is Watsoned by “Watchem.”
