Bill and Jim. Bill and Jim were created by John H. Thompson and appeared in dozens of stories in Flynn’s and Argosy from 1924 to at least 1934, possibly beginning with “Dinners for Two” (Flynn’s, Nov. 8, 1924).
Bill and Jim are a pair of wandering tramps who travel across the U.S., doing their best to beg, borrow, win or earn enough money for their next meal. Bill is fat and quick-witted; Jim is tall and strong. Both occasionally do good and help others, though usually by accident.
