Benton, Wally. Wally Benton was created by Laurence Gross and Edward Childs Carpenter and appeared in one play and three films between 1932 and 1943, beginning with the play Whistling in the Dark (1932).

Wally Benton is a voice talent on a radio mystery program on which he plays a detective known as “The Fox.” Unusually, in his real life he is drawn, time after time, into solving murders, whether in New York City, in Georgia, or at Niagara Falls.
