Bellamy, John. John Bellamy was created by T.C.H. Jacobs (Chief Inspector Barnard, Dixon Hawke) and appeared in seven novels from 1943 to 1947, beginning with The Grenson Murder Case.

John Bellamy is a Detective-Superintendent for the Criminal Investigation Department. He investigates brutal murders in a rather harsher London than is usually portrayed in 1940s English detective novels. He has a “reputation for solving clueless crimes.”
