Beele, Arty. Arty Beele was created by Ruth & Alexander Wilson and appeared in sixteen stories in Detective Fiction Weekly from 1928 to 1932, beginning with “Killers Have Blue Eyes” (Detective Fiction Weekly, Dec. 15, 1928).
Arty Beele is a hard-boiled newspaper reporter for the Telegraph. Beele solves crimes but is the target of suspicion of John Ryan, captain of the homicide squad. Beele is “a tall, untidy figured crowned with a disreputable Stetson.”
