Beech, Viola. Viola Beech was created by Edgar Wallace (Ace High, Brigand, Wireless Bryce, Felix Carfew, Dixon, Elegant Edward, Inspector Elk, Educated Evans, Four Square Jane, Dixon Hawke, Heine, Felix Jenks, Just Men, King Kong (I), Larry Loman, Superintendent Minter, Policy Sleuth, Oliver Rater, John G. Reeder, The Ringer, Sanders, York Symon, Tam o’the Scoots, Inspector Wade, Kate Westhanger) and appeared in The Girl From Scotland Yard (1937), which was made into a film later that year.

Viola Beech is an agent of Scotland Yard. She is feisty and good with her fists and guns, and is assigned to go after Franz Borg, a Mad Scientist who has invented an airplane armed with a death ray. Borg intends to use the plane to conquer Great Britain, but Beech is assigned to the job, and with the help of the All-American hero Derrick Holt she succeeds.
