Bancroft, Brass. Brass Bancroft was created by Lee Katz (Doctor X) and “Dean Franklin,” the pseudonym of Dean Riesner, and appeared in four films in 1939 and 1940, beginning with Secret Service of the Air.

Brass Bancroft is a veteran of the Navy who is a pilot on a Pacific Clipper route. But when the Secret Service discovers that illegal immigrants are being flown into the United States from Mexico, Bancroft is hired to bust the operation. When it is all over he becomes a full-fledged Secret Service Lieutenant and goes after Mexican counterfeiters and enemy spies intent on sabotaging the Navy’s new Inertia Projector, among others.
