The Atalanta. The Atalanta was created by the German author Alexander Moszkowski and appeared in Die Inseln der Weisheit (1922).

The Atalanta is a yacht owned by a wealthy American. A friend of his buys a book at an auction which turns out to be a set of previously unknown predictions by Nostradamus. They prompt the American to gather together some friends and go on a trip, to find the truth of the predictions. North of Hawaii, they find an undiscovered archipelago of islands, all of which have civilizations on them. There’s the island with a culture modeled on Plato’s Republic, the island of Hinayana Buddhists, a Mechanized Island whose inhabitants have atomic power, flying suits, and wrist-watch radios, and so on.
