Ashley, Thomas. Thomas Ashley was created by George Allan England (Paul Kramer, Master (I), Slattery & Bender, Allan Stern, John Storm, Leonidas Tripp) and appeared in thirty-eight stories in a variety of pulps from 1918 to 1936, beginning with “Ping Pong” (All-Story Weekly, Sept. 28, 1918).

Thomas Ashley is a Great Detective Scientific Detective. Ashley is the “Connoisseur of Crime,” one of many gray-eyed, super-knowledgeable amateur detectives who arose like crabgrass in the pulps of the late teens and twenties. Ashley, while Sherlock Holmesian in manner, also uses technologically advanced (for the time) instruments in his crime-solving.
