Allou, Monsieur. Monsieur Allou was created by Noël Vindry and appeared in fifteen novels from 1932 to 1953, beginning with La Maison Qui Tue.

Monsieur Allou is a colorless police examining magistrate in Marseilles, although his cases take him across France. Several of his cases are impossible crimes and locked-room murders, but some of Allou’s cases verge on the fantastic, as in one case when a curse seemingly follows a man from India to France.
