Ainsley, John. John Ainsley was created by Arthur Somers Roche and appeared in seven stories in The Red Book Magazine in 1923, beginning with “Legerdemain” (The Red Book Magazine, Mar 1923).

John Ainsley is a crime-solving Lupin. He known as “the Master Thief” and is honorable and will not prey on “gentlemen and ladies,” preferring to steal from criminals.
