Rankin, Rookie. Rookie Rankin is a brave beat patrolman, if none too bright–much to the annoyance of his superior, Sgt. Burns. Most of the criminals he apprehends are normal, but some are name villains, like the Spider and the Tattooed Man. Rankin appears in stories with titles like “The Squid Strikes,” “Crime Takes a Holiday,” and “The Whiner.”
