Gabby Hayes, modeled on the screen persona of George “Gabby” Hayes (1885-1969), is a crotchety old Western hero, full of “Dadburn it!” “Balls of fire!” “Dadgum horse thieves!” “Young whippersnapper,” “Sufferin’ catfish!” and other such genuine old-time Western expressions. He has standard cowboy adventures. He appears in stories with titles like "Stampede to Doom," "Public Outlaw No. 1," and "The City Under Sand."
